Which Act Governs Minimum Wages in Delhi? 

In Delhi, the minimum wages are governed under the Minimum Wages Act 1948. As per this act, the state and central government, as well as both governing bodies, can make changes to the minimum wages in Delhi. However, the changes of 2024-25 are done by the state government. While there’s no significant change in the figures, here are the bulletins to have a quick look at updated minimum wages in Delhi:

  • Unskilled Workers: The unskilled workers must get ₹17,988 or ₹695 per day, including DA. 
  • Semi-skilled Workers: A skilled worker must be paid at least ₹19,825. It comes to ₹767 per day, including DA. 
  • Skilled Workers: Skilled workers should be rewarded minimum wages of ₹21,813 per month or ₹843, including DA. 
  • Non-Matriculated: ₹19,825 is the minimum per month wage for non-matriculated. It comes to ₹767 per day with DA. 
  • Matriculate but not Graduate: The minimum wage for a non-graduate matriculate is ₹21,813 per month or ₹843 per day with DA. 
  • Graduate or Above For a graduate or above, the minimum wage is ₹23,732. The per day wage is ₹917 with DA.

What are the Components of Gross Salary in Delhi?

Gross salary consists of many different components. All these components contribute to the net salary without any deductions. Given below are the four main components of gross salary-

1) Basic Pay

Basic pay is among the first components of Gross pay. It is important to align it with the current minimum wages in Delhi. Besides, this amount is uniform across all parts of Delhi.

2) Dearness Allowance (DA)

Dearness allowance is the amount given to employees that can help them manage inflation. The Delhi government provides variable DA. So, companies only need to calculate the final amount according to this guideline.

3) House Rent Allowance (HRA)

A portion of the salary is given for house rent and is known as HRA. It is calculated in terms of the percentage of the employee’s salary.

4) Conveyance Allowance

The daily travel expense is also covered in an employee’s salary and is called conveyance allowance. It is the cost of commuting daily to and from work only. In this case, the conveyance allowance is set at Rs.1600.
